Another hurrah for English wine as Devon’s Lyme Bay Winery is set to introduce four new wines this month.
Hot on the heels of announcing the launch of its two brand new sparkling wines last month, the winery has said it will add new 2015 vintages of its award-winning still whites, Bacchus Block and Sandbar.
A quick recap on the sparkling: Lyme Bay Blanc de Noirs (RRP £24.50) is made using 100% Pinot Noir grapes, with the red fruit characters said to have a strong presence in the white sparkling. The wine is described as being rich and earthy on the nose with forward strawberry and cherry notes, leading to a delicious richness on the palate – offset by a crisp acidity and a light toast finish.
Next up is Lyme Bay Sparkling Rosé (RRP £24.50), a soft pink with notes of wild strawberries, pepper and redcurrant on the nose and a bright, fruit-driven palate with a richness of honey and hits of brioche and almond.
And onto the new: Bacchus Block 2015 (RRP £15.89) is said to be a fresh, clean wine of intense and powerful grapefruit freshness, broad tropical fruit notes and herbal undertones. It has a long citrus-dominated finish with a lovely mouth-feel and a lingering, bold length.
Finally, so we’ve heard, Sandbar 2015 (£13.79) is a fresh and zesty wine with a range of characteristics including grapefruit, guava, box wood and a hint of blackcurrant. Being light to medium in body, Sandbar is said to have a great affinity to food pairing, particularly with light, citrus-led fish or chicken pasta dishes.
