Highland distillery Tomatin has unveiled the second single malt whisky release in its six-strong Warehouse 6 Collection – the 1972 edition.

The whisky, which follows on from the launch of its 1971 edition last year, is available in a limited run of 380 bottles.

Aged in three sherry hogshead casks (23404, 23405 and 23406) within Tomatin’s traditional dunnage warehouse, it is said to offer a “distinct and complex character” with aromas of summer meadow wildflowers accompanied by flavours of sweet almond, coffee and winter spices.

Tomatin 1972 Warehouse 6 Collection is presented in a wooden presentation box, which is opened via two rose gold metal buttons found on the side of the box.

Inside a wooden podium base, pictured above, holds the hand-blown Glencairn Crystal decanter with a solid copper stopper, and glasses decorated with solid copper bands. Each bottle comes with a numbered certificate.

Sales director Stephen Bremner said: “It is very exciting to finally launch the 1972 Warehouse 6 Collection malt, which has been sitting patiently in some of our most treasured casks, maturing and growing in flavour; just as the Tomatin brand itself has grown throughout the years.

“We wanted to create a range of whiskies that truly capture the heart of the distillery. This we achieved initially with the 1971, and now with the 1972.”
