Poetic License Gets Savoury with Cherry and Basil Variant

Continuing its Rarities range of one-off spirit products, Poetic License Independent Small Batch Distillery has introduced a Cherry and Basil gin.

Continuing its Rarities range of one-off spirit products, Poetic License Independent Small Batch Distillery has introduced a Cherry and Basil gin.

Fresh cherries and basil were used in the distillation as well as being infused with cherry juice, which is how it achieves its colour. If savoury gin is your thing, then this has got your name all over it, as the juniper and a herbaceous basil hit you first and are followed by lingering cherry flavours towards the end of the drink.

This latest limited edition follows Orange Blossom gin, released in February this year.

The Rarities are a one-batch distillation of whatever the creatives at Poetic License fancy making, it says. A ‘few hundred’ bottles of each are produced.

‘Following the great success we’ve had with our strawberries and cream flavoured Picnic Gin, we thought we’d continue to play around with another red berry fruit,’ distiller, Luke Smith, said.

‘This time, though, I was keen to give it a savoury, herbal twist. I think it is a surprising gin, and offers something very different to what people will expect.’
