Mexico broke the Guinness World Record with the highest number of Beefeater & Tonics prepared in the same place at the same time. The record was set in celebration of International Gin Day which was observed on the second Saturday in June.

Ramón Tovar, a renowned mixologist, and Barra México, a venue devoted to the premium distilled beverages industry and upscale bars, brought together the best bartenders in Mexico City to prepare 300 cocktails. The 300 Beefeater & Tonics were prepared at an event in the Hotel Camino Real Polanco where the 300 bartenders in attendance guided by Tovar used 15 liters of gin, 30 liters of tonic water and 300 slices of lemon and orange, along with nearly two thousand ice cubes. 

After the event, a strict process of certification was followed before the Guinness World Records organization, which consisted of submitting evidence approved by health inspectors, notaries, supervisors, timekeepers, and a person engaged in counting participants, among others.  

Once the process was concluded, the certificate was delivered to the organizers, making it officially the first occasion when this record is being set at the world level, and is added to the more than 400 Guinness World Records established in Mexico City.

The organizers stated that Beefeater was chosen for the mixed drink since it is the world's most awarded gin, and is considered perfect for mixing.  

According to Desmond Payne, Beefeater's Master Distiller, "Gin is enjoying an ideal moment, in Mexico it has become very popular in the past five years and, following a world trend, has become every bartender's favorite owing to its versatility."

The recipe used for preparing the 300 Beefeater & Tonics is as follows:

INGREDIENTS

• 50 ml of Beefeater Dry
• 150 ml Schweppes Tonic Water
• Ice cubes 
• 1 slice of orange
• 1 slice of lemon

PREPARATION

• Serve the ice in a balloon glass and stir to chill   
• Remove remaining excess water  
• Serve 50 ml of Beefeater Dry gin
• Add the slices of orange and lemon, and wait five seconds for the ingredients to mix naturally  
• Add tonic water
• Mix for 15 seconds
