The wait is over for fans of Jester King Brewery’s most famous beer, and this year there will be substantially more of it to go around.

The Austin-based brewery will be releasing 2017 Atrial Rubricate this weekend, a barrel-aged sour beer brewed with malted wheat and pilsner malts as well as golding hops before being refermented with raspberries sourced from Washington in oak barrels. Originally released in late August of 2013, Atrial Rubicite was Jester King’s first barrel-aged sour to incorporate fruit. Since then, there have been six additional releases, and the last incarnation was sold on July 22, 2016.

There’s only so much room for oak in our barrel room, and we have a desire to make lots of different barrel aged beers,” reads a post on Jester King’s Facebook page. “Past years have seen very small releases of Atrial Rubicite due to competing projects/beers, as well as bumper crops of other varieties of fruit (peaches for instance). We racked 29 oak barrels containing 1,450 gallons of beer onto 7,500 pounds of raspberries, for a fruit to beer ratio of 5.2 pounds per gallon! ”
